Westshield Limited - Oldham
Westshield Ltd has been providing reliable and high quality civil engineering and construction solutions to a wide range of public, private and local authority clients since 1977. A reputation for exceeding expectation and a proven ability to handle even the most complex project has allowed us to enjoy sustained expansion throughout the UK.
We are an equal opportunities employer with a workforce of around 200 skilled individuals across seven specialist sectors. Our comprehensive modern plant fleet provides the resources and flexibility to attend to every client requirement at a moments notice. This multi-disciplined capability means we can handle the entirety of a project or focus on an individual aspect.
Our comprehensive resources coupled with decades of experience honed on varied and challenging projects equip us with a breadth of capability to attend to part or all of the most complex civil engineering or construction project. We work to solve difficult problems in a way that will minimise disruption and inconvenience but ensure maximum gain. By developing an understanding of a client's business and working as a seamless extension to their team, we deliver a project on brief, on time and on budget with minimum handholding.
From initial design to final handover we offer a total solutions package. Every project is analysed to ensure the most advantageous technical solution is presented to the client. Westshield actively encourages Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and Value Engineering believing these processes to present opportunities for cost or time savings to be identified.
As part of our commitment to innovation and quality, we conduct on-going research into new methods or materials that could deliver real benefits both globally and to our clients. We form business partnerships with specialist solution suppliers. Key drivers in this selection process include quality, cost, durability, value, eco-rating and time saving.
Westshield is happy to advise on the ´Buildability´ of a scheme, Health, Safety and Environmental issues, Project Programming, Risk Assessment and Control Measures, as well as Traffic Management Planning to ensure a smooth and risk free project delivery.
For Westshield, 'sustainability' means 'longevity' and those business practices and policies that will ensure our continuation long into the future are placed at the heart of all operations.
That means seeking to make a positive impact on society, the environment and the community, not just minimising the negative.

In addition to working to the code of conduct established by the Considerate Contractors Scheme, Westshield has developed a Community Relations Plan, which outlines procedure for working on a project within a community environment. It also pledges the company´s commitment to support causes that are important to the individuals within the organisation and its immediate environment.

Product and Services
Close to home that translates as:
Growing a business organically without rocking its firmest foundations
Challenging individuals whilst delivering job satisfaction
Providing individuals with the opportunity to expand skills via further training and education, developing their confidence and accomplishments
Stretching the company's capabilities whilst still achieving very high standards of craftsmanship and client retention
Being a responsible neighbour and ensuring clear channels of communication are established with communities to minimise avoidable disruption and inconvenience.
On a more global scale it means:
Recruiting skilled individuals living locally
Encouraging shared transport schemes
Employing on-site technicians to extend the lifecycle of vehicles and plant machinery
Purchasing materials from local manufacturers
Implementing a Site Waste Management Plan to seek ways to responsibly reuse and redistribute waste materials.
Every day and every new contract brings with it new opportunities to build a sustainable business. We move with the times and evolve with this change.
